It seems that “Darna” starring Jane De Leon will not continue to air.

According to PEP.ph, it is said to be a “business decision” of Star Cinema, the film company of ABS-CBN.

 

 

Darna ‘s total production costs are said to have reached “PHP140 million”.

 

 

June 2012 when ABS-CBN was first granted rights to Darna, the famous Filipino superhero created by comics legend Mars Ravelo.

 

 

Over the past seven years, the movie project has undergone many changes — from lead stars, directors, as well as movie scripts — due to unforeseen circumstances.

 

 

Angel Locsin was chosen by ABS-CBN to play Darna in the movie that will be made by Star Cinema and will be directed by director Erik Matti.

 

 

June 26, 2014, when Angel said she was excited to play Darna again.

Angel’s TV adaptation of Darna on GMA-7 in 2005 broke records.

 

 

Angel even cried when she remembered how Darna became an instrument to support her showbiz career and make her family live comfortably.

 

 

But unfortunately, Angel finally resigned from the project in March 2017.

 

 

Liza Soberano was the next Darna of Star Cinema.

 

 

Angel blessed the transfer of the nightstick to Liza. Even former Darna’s, such as Vilma Santos and Sharon Cuneta, supported Liza.

 

 

But the project was delayed again when ABS-CBN announced that Erik Matti will no longer mold the Darna movie.

 

 

But by April 2019, Liza was forced to resign as Darna.

 

 

May 2019 when Star Cinema started conducting auditions for the much-coveted Darna role.

 

 

June 15, 2019, when Jane de Leon was summoned to a surprise meeting to announce that she was the chosen new Darna. Star Cinema head Olive Lamasan shared the good news with Jane.

 

 

All in all, Star Cinema’s total cost for Darna movies has increased by PHP140 million.

 

 

But It is still not finished until now.
